Originally founded as Apache Ecological Service, Inc; which was sold to a national environmental firm in 2019, SK Farm continues the tradition with it’s principals bringing over 30 years of experience to solve ecological challenges. Wetlands
SK Farm is unquestionably the leader in providing and installing wetland vegetation. Our depth of experience includes mitigation, coastal and estuarine systems, constructed wetlands for waste water treatment, master planned community’s amenity lakes, flood control detention basin live bottoms and wildlife habitat creation wetlands.
This leadership is most evident in the procurement of plant material and planting of the largest man-made wetland in the U.S. Over 1,300,000 individual plants were installed to the 1800 plus acre constructed wetland near Seagoville, Texas for the North Texas Municipal Water District, now operated as the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center.
Ecological Restoration
SK Farm’s broad range of experience as an ecological restoration company includes invasive species treatment, coastal dunes planting, prarie grass restoration, oyster bed enhancement, oil and gas drill site restoration and sea grass surveys and planting.
Stream Bank Restoration
SK Farm is a leader in the use of bio engineering techniques for stream bank stabilization and erosion control. This low-cost method emphasizes the use of native vegetation and natural substances integrated with geo-synthetics and other materials. These techniques include live stakes, wattles or fascines, check dams, tree revetments and live crib walls.
Wetlands Golf Course Beautification
SK Farm has worked on numerous high end golf courses enhancing wild life habitat and improving aesthetics through the design and planting of wetland shelves, creating buffer zones for fertilizer run off, managing native vegetation and general landscape improvements.
